Microblading /Semi-Permanent Tattoo

Microblading, also commonly known as microstroking, eyebrow embroidery, and semi-permanent make-up, is a relatively new technique to North America. Using a manual hand tool, your artist etches a pattern of lines that mimic one's own hair growth pattern while implanting pigment simultaneously. The result is a very natural looking brow, often difficult to detect that it is in fact, a tattoo.

What To EXPECT...
During your appointment, numbing cream will be applied, your brows will be shaped and drawn to your approval. We do not use stencils and each brow is custom designed to enhance your features according to your facial proportions and your desired overall shape. Once you are happy with the shape, your microblading specialist will begin the procedure - which usually takes an average of 60 minutes or less. This first appointment takes approximately 1hr 45 mins from start to finish, and a 1.5 hour follow-up visit is scheduled 4-6 weeks later. The follow-up visit allows for touch-ups,  in order to ensure proper results. You will be sent home with after care instructions, which you must follow diligently to ensure the best healed results possible.
How long will my Microblading tattoo last?
Microblading tattooing is considered semi-permanent as it does not wash away, however pigments are designed to fade over time. Factors such as skin type, iron deficiency, pigment color (lighter colors fade faster) and sun exposure can affect the rate at which these pigments are broken down. For best results it is recommended that you follow our aftercare instructions and touch-up your tattoo every 1-2 years (or as needed). Microblading requires a minimum of two sessions. Touch-ups are normal and expected for cosmetic tattoo procedures.
*Please note that final results CAN NOT be guaranteed as everyone retains and breaks down pigment differently and a follow-up appointment is recommended at 4-6 weeks where we can asses your pigment retention and make any changes necessary. Clients with lighter hair, correction work or sparse eyebrows may require more than one follow-up to reach their desired look at an additional cost.

WHO SHOULD NOT HAVE IT DONE...
Microblading however, may not be suitable for everyone.  The only way to determine this is to do an online consult, where you would send in your photographs, or come in person to meet with the artist.
You are NOT a suitable candidate for this procedure if you are:

  • Pregnant or nursing

  • History of Keloids or Hypertrophic scarring

  • Chemotherapy (allowed if doctor's note and they agree)

  • Skin irritations or Psoriasis near the treated area (rashes, sunburn, acne, etc.)

  • Botox in the past 2 weeks

  • Accutane in the past 1 year

  • Going away on hot vacation or will be tanning within 2 wks

  • Any treatment, medication, or illness that compromises the immune system/ healing would NOT make you a good candidate for micropigmentation procedure.

  • Diabetes (only insulin dependent, if on pills then it would be ok)

PRIOR TO YOUR APPOINTMENT:
To ensure best results, 72 hours before and after your microblading appointment: avoid alcohol and aspirin/ibuprofen.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER MY APPOINTMENT?
Following your procedure your tattoo will appear much darker and bolder than it will heal due to oxidation in the surface layer of your skin. Your tattoo will also appear warmer in color. You may experience some redness or swelling around the tattooed area, though this typically disappears within 48 hours.

Within a few days (typically 5-10) you will notice some scabbing or flaking on the tattooed area, do not pick at these, doing so can result in loss of pigment in those areas. Brows may appear spotty or patchy until the entire brow has finished exfoliating. You may notice that some areas may appear very light or even to have lost pigment entirely after they have peeled, the epidermis will be thicker causing muting, hiding or diffusing of pigment underneath. The epidermis will normalize over the next 4-6 weeks and softened pigment will resurface and "bloom" back into the surface of the skin. At 4-6 weeks your brows will be fully healed and will need your touch up. If you’d prefer darker, bolder brows we can always add more color or dimension during your follow-up appointment!
